Wet Macular Degeneration Treatment
What is Wet Macular Degeneration?
In about 15 percent of cases, dry macular degeneration progresses to wet macular degeneration also known as Wet AMD; the more advanced and damaging form of the eye disease.
With wet macular degeneration, new blood vessels grow beneath the retina and leak blood and fluid. This leakage causes permanent damage to light-sensitive retinal cells, which die off and create blind spots in central vision.
20 years ago, patients diagnosed with wet AMD were having severe vision loss, or going blind within 5 years. With new advancements in technology and eye medications for wet macular degeneration such as Avastin, Eyelea, and Lucentis we at the Healthy Vision Institute have been successful in helping preserve our patients eyesight.
We create custom treatment plans for each patient depending on needs. Please contact us today to see how we can help save your eyesight!
