Dr. James Powers is a renowned retinal surgeon and specialist dedicated to providing exceptional care to seniors. With extensive experience in treating conditions such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and cataracts, he is committed to preserving vision and improving the eye health of his senior patients.
Dr. Powers holds a special passion in his heart and practice for helping diabetics gain control of their diabetes and live a healthier life. It was Dr. Powers who discovered his own mother’s diabetes 20 years ago through an eye exam. She had no health issues or any signs of diabetes, but that exam verified she not only had diabetes but also diabetic retinopathy and was in danger of losing her vision. Her struggles with diabetes inspired Dr. Powers to dedicate his life and practice to helping those with diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration keep their vision and live a healthy life.

Dr. Powers is a board certified ophthalmologist specializing in treatment of retinal diseases, including diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, retinal tears, floaters, medical and surgical retinal disease and laser surgery. Doctor Powers prides himself on his personal and respectful relationships with his patients and he instills confidence with his delivery of outstanding, state of the art medical and surgical care.
Dr Powers’ research includes, co-investigator of the SOCA study and the Genentech FVF2128 study. He has also authored numerous publications including Glaucoma Associations with Intraocular Tumors and Aphakic/Pseudophakic Glaucoma.
